Taxonomy
Babylonites carinatus was named by Yochelson (1956). Its type specimen is USNM 119141 and is not a trace fossil. Its type locality is USNM706b, Hess Canyon, Glass Mtns., which is in a Wordian offshore shelf packstone/wackestone in the Word Formation of Texas.
