Idiospirinae was named by Williams et al. (2002) [Idiospirinae Copper, in Williams et al. (2002)]. It is not extant. Its type is Idiospira.

It was assigned to Septatrypidae by Williams et al. (2002) and Baarli et al. (2022).

B. G. Baarli et al. 2022Smooth, small, elongate, and biconvex shells with weak plications bounding the sulcus and fold. Teeth are slender; the hinge plates are high without a median septum, and there are relatively few whorls in the spiralia. They may have a whole jugum or jugal processes.
