Taxonomy
Palaeaster pulchellus was named by Billings (1857). Its type specimen is at the Museum of Geological Survey of canada and is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Stenaster pulchellus by Billings (1858) and Wright (1863); it was recombined as Urasterella (Stenaster) pulchellus by Hall (1868); it was recombined as Urasterella pulchella by Schuchert (1915), Owen (1965) and Blake and Koniecki (2020).
