Taxonomy
Ctenochelys acris was named by Zangerl (1953). Its type specimen is CNHM P27354, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Moore Brothers Farm, which is in a Santonian/Campanian carbonate limestone in Alabama.
