Araiochelys hirayamai
Taxonomy
Araiochelys hirayamai was named by Gaffney et al. (2006). Its type specimen is THUg 3338, a partial skeleton (skull, lower jaws, partial disarticulated shell, nearly complete plastron, and limb bones), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Ouled Abdoun Basin Recette 4, which is in a Danian marine phosphorite in the Couche 2 Formation of Morocco. It is the type species of Araiochelys.
