Palaeaspis bowerbanki
Taxonomy
Platemys bowerbanki was named by Owen (1842). Its type specimen is formerly in Mr Bowerbank's collection, but since it was not sent to the [Natural History] Museum [London] it is probable that it must have perished through pyritous decomposition, a partial shell (partial shell), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is London Clay, Isle of Sheppey turtles, which is in a Ypresian marine claystone in the London Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Podocnemis bowerbanki by Lydekker (1889); it was recombined as Palaeaspis bowerbanki by Gaffney et al. (2006).
