Barrancapus cresapi

Taxonomy
Barrancapus cresapi was named by Hunt et al. (1993). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is NMMNH P-4782 (trackway A), a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is NMMNH Loc. 55, Barranca Creek, which is in a Lacian terrestrial horizon in the Bull Canyon Formation of New Mexico. It is the type species of Barrancapus.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Klein and Lucas (2021).

Hunt et al. 1993This taxon can be differentiated from other ichnotaxa that represent the tracks of quadrupedal animals by the combination of a pentadactyl pes print with a manus print that has a medially extended digit I impression, short digit II, III and IV impressions and an elongate, anteriorly oriented digit V impression.
