Eugaster granifer was named by Whidborne (1896). Its type specimen is Holotype GSM 7165 and is not a trace fossil.
It was recombined as Protaster granifer by Whidborne (1898); it was recombined as Bohemura granifer by Spencer (1934) and Owen (1965).
