Aeglidae was named by Dana (1852). It is extant. Its type is Aegla.

It was assigned to Galatheoidea by Feldmann and Keys (1992), Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Aegloidea by Luque et al. (2017), Schweitzer et al. (2023).
