Grallator crassidigitus

Taxonomy
Prototrisauropus crassidigitus was named by Ellenberger (1970). It is considered to be a form taxon. It is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Seaka tracksite (zone A/3), which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian terrestrial sandstone in the Elliot Formation of Lesotho. It is the type species of Prototrisauropus.

It was recombined as Grallator crassidigitus by Olsen and Galton (1984).

P. Ellenberger 1972Cette espèce répond aux normes génériques données plus haut, dans leur ensemble.
- PES: Longueur du pied, 400 mm (du doigt, II, 221 mm; de III, 265 mm; de IV, 300 mm; projection de III en avant du bout des doigts latéraux, 110 mm). Largeur du pied entre l'extrémité des doigts latéraux, 260 mm.
Divarication totale II-IV , 42° (II-III, 20° ; III-IV , 22°). Les coussinets de phalanges sont bien visibles au moins pour les traces au sol dur.
- MANUS: Invisible.
- PISTE: Enjambée 3,00 m à 3,10 m (Pas = 1,50 m à 1,55 mm, Ped angulatio, 7 à 8°, Ecartement 0,19 m à 0,21 m: la démarche se fait donc d'une façon un peu oscillante (dandinement), Pour la 2ème piste le pas n'est que de 1,05 m, ped. angulatio de 9°. Il est curieux pour cette variété au pas lent de voir un appui exclusif sur la pointe des pieds.
