Taxonomy
Macrodontopteryx oweni was named by Harrison and Walker (1976). Its type specimen is BMNH A 1, a skull (skull), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Isle of Sheppey (BMNH collection), which is in a Ypresian marine claystone in the London Clay Formation of the United Kingdom.
It was synonymized subjectively with Dasornis toliapica by Bourdon et al. (2010).
