Taxonomy
Tropidophiinae was named by Cope (1894) [also attributed to Brongersma, 1951]. It is extant.

It was corrected as Tropidophinae by Rage (1984); it was misspelled as Tropidopheinae by Holman (2000), Szyndlar et al. (2008) and Cernansky et al. (2015).

It was assigned to Boidae by Kuhn (1966), Rage (1984) and Holman (2000); and to Tropidophiidae by Szyndlar et al. (2008) and Cernansky et al. (2015).
