Taxonomy
Metalegoceras striatum was named by Teichert (1942). Its type specimen is UWA 20508, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Nura Nura Ridge, which is in a Sakmarian coastal siliciclastic in the Poole Formation of Australia.
It was recombined as Parametalegoceras striatum by Boiko et al. (2008).
