Taxonomy
Leptoptygma australe was named by Tassell (1982). It is not extant. Its type locality is Chatterton Loc. B, lower half of Receptaculites Lst, near Yass, NSW, which is in an Emsian marine lime mudstone/grainstone in the Taemas Formation of Australia.

It was recombined as Decorochilina australe by Wagner (2023).
