Taxonomy
Dimacrodontidae was named by Olson and Beerbower (1953) [incorrectly designated as "n. fam." in Olson (1962)]. It is not extant. Its type is Dimacrodon.

It was assigned to Therapsida by Olson and Beerbower (1953); and to Venjukovioidea by Olson (1962).
