Taxonomy
Cleiothyridina anabathra was named by Waterhouse (1968) [Decorticated valve]. Its type specimen is NZGS BR 1389, a valve (Ventral valve), and it is a mold. Its type locality is GS9697, Letham Burn (D44/f9001), which is in a Wordian marine horizon in the Mangarewa Formation of New Zealand.

J. B. Waterhouse 1987Medium-sized Cleiothyridina, most individuals slightly transverse, some oval in shape, with moderately prominent ventral umbo, posterior walls concave in outline. Dorsal valve not strongly inflated, bearing median swelling or rarely low fold, with shallow median sinus. Ventral valve rarely sulcate, sometimes with shallow median sinus. Spines numerous and fine posteriorly, 5 per mm, diminishing to 2 per mm anteriorly
