Chaoyangia beishanensis
Taxonomy
Chaoyangia beishanensis was named by Hou and Zhang (1993). Its type specimen is IVPP V9934, a partial skeleton (vertebral column, ribs, pelvis, femur, and tibiotarsus), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Beishan Quarry, Boluochi, which is in an Aptian lacustrine mudstone in the Jiufotang Formation of China.

| L. H. Hou 1997 | Vertebral centra are not heterocoelous, sacrals exceed eight, and are unfused. Ribs bear a proximal longitudinal groove and an ossified uncinate process. Sacral girdle is unfused, pubis is posteriorly inclined, pneumaticized, and has fused termini, ilium is reniform (kidney-shaped), and preacetabular section is longer than the unreduced postacetabular section. Long bones are thinly walled and pneumaticized. Femoral head and shaft are well developed and fourth trochanter has become lost. Cnemial crest on the tibia is enlarged and fibula is not fused to the tibia. |
