It was synonymized subjectively with Diatryma by Shufeldt (1913), Matthew and Granger (1917); it was synonymized subjectively with Gastornis by Mlikovsky (2002).
It was assigned to Gastornithidae by Hay (1902); to Diatrymatidae by Hay (1930); and to Diatrymidae by Wetmore (1940).
