It was recombined as Sphenotus obliquus by Hyde (1953).

Hoare 1993Sanguinolites with nearly parallel dorsal and ventral margins; posterior margin convexly truncate; anterior margin tightly curved dorsally, sloping ventrally to meet ventral margin in a broadly obtuse angle; beaks located about one-sixth length from anterior margin; low, distinct, umbonal ridge extends to posteroventral angle; other features not observed.
