Akmilleria was named by Ruzhencev (1940) [Sepkoski's age data: P Asse P Leon]. It is not extant. Its type is Artinskia transitoria.
It was assigned to Prolecanitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Propinacoceratinae by Korn (2006), Furnish et al. (2009), Zhou (2017); and to Medlicottiinae by Leonova (2002), Leonova (2019).
