Anagymnotoceras was named by McLearn (1946) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Anis-m Sepkoski's reference number: 302].

It was assigned to Ceratitidae by McLearn (1969); to Beyrichitinae by Tozer (1981), Tozer (1994); and to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002).
