Taxonomy
Lingyunites was named by Chao (1950) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Nm Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Lingyunites discoides.

It was assigned to Proptychitinae by Tozer (1981); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); to Proptychitidae by Brayard and Bucher (2008); to Galfettitidae by Brühwiler and Bucher (2012); and to Gyronitidae by Đaković et al. (2022).
