Aglaspididae was named by Miller (1877). It is not extant. Its type is Aglaspis. It was considered monophyletic by Lerosey-Aubril et al. (2017).
It was assigned to Aglaspida by Bergström (1968); to Aglaspida by Størmer (1955), Ortega-Hernandez et al. (2010); to Aglaspidida by Hesselbo (1992), Ortega-Hernandez et al. (2013); and to Aglaspidida by Lerosey-Aubril et al. (2017), Siveter et al. (2017).
