Taxonomy

Byakudansauropus was named by Azuma and Takeyama (1991). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Byakudansauropus shiraminensis.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Tsukiji et al. (2019).

It was assigned to Theropoda by Azuma and Takeyama (1991), Romero Molina et al. (2003); and to Theropoda by Fujita (2008).

Synonyms

Byakudansauropus shiraminensis was named by Azuma and Takeyama (1991). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is ISBEV003, a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Byakodan, Hakusan tracksite, which is in a Valanginian/Barremian fluvial-deltaic sandstone in the Akaiwa Formation of Japan. It is the type species of Byakudansauropus.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Lockley and Matsukawa (1998); it was considered a nomen dubium by Tsukiji et al. (2019).
