Prohungarites was named by Spath (1934) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant.
It was assigned to Hungaritidae by Kummel (1969); to Olenikitidae by Tozer (1981); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Noetlingitinae by Guex et al. (2010).
