Taxonomy

Saghatheriidae was named by Andrews (1906). It is extant.

It was reranked as the subfamily Saghatheriinae by Sudre (1979), Prothero and Schoch (1989), Court and Mahboubi (1993), Pickford (2005).

It was assigned to Hyracoidea by Andrews (1906); to Pliohyracidae by Sudre (1979), Prothero and Schoch (1989), Court and Mahboubi (1993); to Procaviamorpha by Pickford (2004), Pickford (2005); and to Hyracoidea by Rasmussen and Gutiérrez (2010).
