Taxonomy
Svalbardiceras was named by Frebold (1930) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Olen-u Sepkoski's reference number: 302]. It is not extant. Its type is Lecanites spitzbergensis.
It was assigned to Meekoceratidae by Spath (1934), Kummel (1969); to Olenikitinae by Tozer (1994); to Ceratitida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Olenikitidae by Guex et al. (2010).
