Taxonomy
Austiniceras was named by Spath (1922) [Sepkoski's age data: K Ceno-l K Camp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 730]. Its type is Ammonites austeni.

It was reranked as Puzosia (Austiniceras) by Anderson (1958), Cooper (1978); it was reranked as Parapuzosia (Austiniceras) by Clark (1960), Wright and Kennedy (1984), Wilmsen and Nagm (2014), Kennedy et al. (2024).

It was assigned to Puzosia by Anderson (1958), Cooper (1978); to Ammonoidea by Sepkoski (2002); and to Parapuzosia by Clark (1960), Wright and Kennedy (1984), Wilmsen and Nagm (2014), Kennedy et al. (2024).
