Plectropterna elegans

Plectropterna elegans was named by Hitchcock (1889) [Named by E. Hitchcock in this paper.]. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is Mt. Holyoke Cabinet 53, 91, 242 (destroyed), a footprint, and it is a trace fossil. Its type locality is Wethersfield tracksite, which is in a Hettangian/Sinemurian fluvial-lacustrine shale/sandstone in the Portland Formation of Connecticut.

It was recombined as Tarsoplectrus elegans by Lull (1904).
