Taxonomy
Rhinobatus expansus was named by Davis (1887). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hakel (Lewis collection), which is in a Cenomanian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal carbonate in Lebanon.
It was recombined as Raja expansa by Woodward (1889); it was recombined as Pararaja expansa by Cappetta (1980), Cappetta (1987).
