Taxonomy
Gordonia traquairi was named by Newton (1893). It is a mold. Its type locality is Cutties Hillock Millstone Quarry, which is in a Changhsingian fluvial sandstone in the Cutties Hillock Sandstone Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Dicynodon traquairi by King (1988).
