Anhanguera cuvieri
Taxonomy
Pterodactylus cuvieri was named by Bowerbank (1851). Its type specimen is BMNH 39409, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Culand Pits, Burham, which is in a Cenomanian/Turonian basinal (carbonate) chalk/marl in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Ptenodactylus cuvieri by Seeley (1869); it was recombined as Ornithocheirus cuvieri by Seeley (1870), Zittel (1890) and Charig (1967); it was recombined as Anhanguera cuvieri by Unwin (2001) and Unwin (2003).
