Taxonomy
Murex colei was named by Palmer (1937) [m. kosnik taxon no: 6748]. Its type specimen is PRI 3002, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Hexaplex (Hexaplex) colei by Vokes (1968).
