Taxonomy
Typhis floridanus was named by Dall (1889). It is extant. Its type locality is TU 536 - La Belle [Caloosahatchee Fm], which is in a Pleistocene coastal marl in the Caloosahatchee Formation of Florida.
It was recombined as Typhis (Typhinellus) floridanus by Keen (1944); it was recombined as Typhis (Rugotyphis) floridanus by Gertman (1969).
