Taxonomy
Siphonochelus (Pilsbrytyphis) darienensis was named by Gertman (1969). Its type specimen is USNM 646114, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS Loc. 8477 - Rio Tuira [Tuira Fm], which is in a Tortonian marine horizon in the Tuira Formation of Panama.
