Poirieria (Paziella) septima was named by Vokes (1970). Its type specimen is USNM 646429, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is USGS 10631 Tuzendepetl [Paraje Solo Fm], which is in a Miocene marine horizon in the Paraje Solo Formation of Mexico.
