Taxonomy
Jupiteria was named by Bellardi (1875) [Sepkoski's age data: K Albi R Sepkoski's reference number: 789]. It is extant. Its type is Jupiteria concava.

It was reranked as Leda (Jupiteria) by Woodring (1925) and Hashimoto (1982); it was reranked as Nuculana (Jupiteria) by Marwick (1931), Coan et al. (2000), Huber (2010).

It was assigned to Leda by Woodring (1925) and Hashimoto (1982); to Nuculoida by Sepkoski (2002); to Nuculanidae by Hayward (1972), Woodring (1973), Vokes (1980), Stilwell and Zinsmeister (1992), Todd (2001), Spencer et al.
