Thuroholia was named by Gutschick (1954). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Thuroholia croneisi.
It was assigned to Holothuroidea by Gutschick (1954); and to Calclamnidae by Langenheim and Epis (1957), Summerson and Campbell (1958), Gutschick (1959), Deflandre-Rigaud (1962), Reso and Wegner (1964), Frizzell and Exline (1966), Gutschick et al. (1967), Wernlund (1977).
