Taxonomy
Hoferia was named by Bittner (1895) [Sepkoski's age data: Tr Ladi-u Tr Carn Sepkoski's reference number: 94]. It is not extant. Its type is Lucina duplicata.

It was assigned to Limopsidae by Vokes (1980); to Arcoida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pichleriidae by Ros-Franch et al. (2014).
