Eucytheridae was named by Puri (1954). It is extant.

It was reranked as the subfamily Eucytherinae by Ayress (1995), Ballent (1998), Ceolin et al. (2024).

It was assigned to Cytheracea by Blaszyk (1987); to Cytherideoidea by Liebau (2005); to Cytheroidea by Yamaguchi et al. (2016); and to Cytherideidae by Ayress (1995), Ballent (1998), Ceolin et al. (2024).
