Tropeognathus mesembrinus
Taxonomy
Tropeognathus mesembrinus was named by Wellnhofer (1987). Its type specimen is BSP 1987 I 46, a skull (Skull and lower jaw), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chapada do Araripe [Romualdo Fm.] (general), which is in an Aptian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal shale in the Romualdo Formation of Brazil.
It was recombined as Criorhynchus mesembrinus by Fastnacht (2001); it was recombined as Ornithocheirus mesembrinus by Unwin (2003).
