Laxtorum perfectum was named by Carter (1993). Its type locality is 87-CNA-KPA-17; 89-CNA-KPA-18 Kennecott Point, Graham Island, which is in a Rhaetian basinal (siliciclastic) limestone/siltstone in the Sandilands Formation of Canada.
