Squinabolella desrochersi was named by Carter (1993). Its type locality is 87-CNA-SKUD-6 Kunga Island, which is in a Rhaetian basinal (siliciclastic) limestone/siltstone in the Sandilands Formation of Canada.
It was recombined as Nabolella desrochersi by Kiessling (2005).
