Taxonomy
Thetis oblonga was named by De Wever (1982). Its type locality is Gümüslü, sample 1662D, which is in a Pliensbachian basinal (carbonate) limestone in the Sögütlü dere Formation of Turkey. It is the type species of Thetis.

It was recombined as Thetisolala oblonga by De Wever and O'Dogherty (2007).
