Taxonomy
Kymatites xiaohensis was named by Xu (1988). Its type specimen is Yichang Inst Geol Min Res IV50594 and is a cast. Its type locality is Xiaohe Xh-80-C-1, Lichuan, which is in a Dienerian carbonate lime mudstone in the Ruiping Formation of China.
