Ornithorhynchus anatinus

Taxonomy

Ornithorhynchus anatinus was named by Shaw (1792). It is extant.

Synonyms

Ornithorhynchus agilis was named by de Vis (1886). Its type specimen is no specimen number listed, a limb element (right tibia), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is King Creek, Pilton, which is in a Pleistocene fluvial horizon in Australia.

It was synonymized subjectively with Ornithorhynchus anatinus by Archer et al. (1978).
