Taxonomy

Hyotissa was named by Stenzel (1971) [Sepkoski's age data: K Turo R]. It is extant.

It was assigned to Pycnodontinae by Ward (1992); to Pycnodonteinae by Vokes (1980), Woodring (1982), Moore (1987), Freneix et al. (1988), Perrilliat (1994); to Gryphaeidae by Lamprell and Healy (1998), Todd (2001); to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Hyotissini by Bouchet et al. (2010).

Synonyms

Parahyotissa was named by Harry (1985) [m. kosnik taxon no: 8586]. It is extant.

It was synonymized subjectively with Hyotissa by Kiessling (2009).
