Iliacantha was named by Stimpson (1871). It is extant. Its type is Iliacantha globosa.

It was assigned to Leucosiinae by Todd and Collins (2005); and to Ebaliinae by Schweitzer et al. (2010), Luque et al. (2017), Karasawa et al. (2019).
