Aglaocetus latifrons

Taxonomy
Mesocetus latifrons was named by Van Beneden (1880) [no type specimen listen in Van Beneden (1880); lectotype from Steeman 2010]. Its type specimen is lectotype IRScNB CtM 567/Reg 198, a partial skull (left periotic), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Deurne (Fort 1), Antwerpen Sands Member, which is in a Langhian/Serravallian open shallow subtidal sandstone in the Berchem Formation of Belgium.

It was recombined as Plesiocetus latifrons by Van Deinse (1931); it was recombined as Aglaocetus latifrons by Steeman (2010).
