Taxonomy
Obliquipecten was named by Hind (1903) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour P Guad-l Sepkoski's reference number: 524]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Chaenocardiidae by Newell and Boyd (1995); to Chaenocardiinae by Vokes (1980) and Waterhouse (2001); and to Pterioida by Sepkoski (2002).
